NOTE: The Arnhem video is shot from a really cool perspective -- just left of the tip of the heart a few rows back from the barricades. The footage makes you feel like your standing in the audience. You can see the backs of heads and hands held in the air in front of you. During "Stay", Bono and Edge are only ten feet away, slightly above you on the catwalk. The band is much farther away -- on the main stage -- during "Bad".
The Las Vegas video features an awesome two camera mix with great audio. One of the cameras is located in the stands on Adam's side. The other is on the floor, inside the heart. The latter camera gives you a perspective very similar to the Arnhem footage mentioned above and provides some incredible closeups of the songs performed both on the catwalk and on the main stage. For example, you'll learn what it was like to be standing a few rows back from the center of the stage as Bono reached into the heart during "Bad". For those of us that were actually in that position at some point during the Elevation Tour, this will help you to relive the moment. This video does a far better job of showing you how much Bono puts into a concert than the official Boston DVD release. Take a look at the close ups during "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses"...the look on Bono's face says it all. While the audio and video are slightly out of sync, the footage is so cool that you probably won't mind. The cameras are a bit shaky and there are some jerky moments that likely resulted from the digitization of the video, but the end result is awesome nonetheless.
The November 12, 2001 and November
13, 2001 Los Angeles videos were taped by the same people who made the
Las Vegas video. For the November 12 footage, the first half of "Please"
is shot from the stands on Adam's side while most of the second half of
the song was filmed from inside the heart. The video from inside
the heart is shows Bono and the Edge silhouetted against two stage lights.
On November 13, the taper in the stands was even with the main stage on
Edge's side. The video of "Until the End of the World" switches back
and forth from inside the heart to in the stands. There are some
cool shots of Edge and Adam filmed from inside the heart.
