NOTE: This recording features excellent sound quality and clarity. The overall sound is quite strong and, while audience noise is certainly noticeable at times, it is not very disturbing. All things considered, this recording certainly belongs in the upper tier of bootlegs from the third leg of the Vertigo Tour.
In a throwback to tours gone by, Bono quips “Generally if I hold a guitar you should all be afraid. Edge has been making me take some lessons” in a somewhat mocking tone of voice before “Original of the Species”.
Bono talks about his relationship with his father before “Sometimes”.
“It's kind of funny. You know a family…maybe it's an Irish male kind of thing but, my father and myself, you know, had a tough time of it. He was great. He was cool and everything. Just every conversation I had with him for the last ten years before he died started with ‘You take off those fuckin’ sunglasses.’ Excuse me. That's the way we spoke. So anyway, this is for you, Bob…Eye to eye, Bob. Head to head. Heart to heart.”
During the intro to “Sunday Bloody Sunday”,
Bono tells the crowd “This is your song now, America!” He brings
a small boy on stage to sing “No More!” with him. He first addresses
the boy as a “son of Abraham”, then calls him “a tough guy”.
Disc 2 begins during the last verse of
“Pride”, so the majority of the song is missing from this recording.
There are a few small blemishes in this
recording. There are a couple of small skips during “Sunday Bloody
Sunday”: one just before Bono screams “We're so sick of it!” and another
about 20 seconds later.
There is a tiny skip during the guitar
intro to “Streets”, after Bono finishes his tribal chanting routine.
Another small skip occurs during “With or Without You” as Bono is singing
“My hands are tied”.
The intro to “With or Without You” is very drawn out, apparently because Bono is pulling a girl onto the stage. During The Edge's surreal guitar solo near the end of the song, Bono can be heard saying goodbye to Lisa, presumably the woman with whom he was dancing.
“Stuck In A Moment” is played acoustically.
Before “All Because of You” Bono announces
that he is taping a brief speech for a television program in Hamilton,
Canada that will honor Daniel Lanois. He then proceeds to thank “Danny
Boy” for helping the band reach their current heights.
