NOTE (by hatnham, distributed with .flac files): What I can tell you about this version is we were in the 1st balcony and noticed the taper. After the show we exchanged addresses and made a trade. This version is either 1st or 2nd generation.
Overall very listenable, Wire is cut a little on the flip and there is a chirp between NYD & Pride from another flip. Clapping and crowd is a little accentuated because of the ceiling above but the recording is very clean with very little tape hiss.
The crowd was nuts at this show. The show was stopped on several occasions to restore order.
NOTE: I compared this recording to "Fire At Radio City" and can confirm that they come from the same source tape. Obviously this is the better bootleg, as it has a known lineage and doesn't have any pops between the tracks.
The concert has to be stopped during "I
Will Follow" when an overzealous bouncer starts to pummel a rowdy fan.
Bono gets pissed and takes responsibility for the wildness. "It's
our fault. We make the music...It's rock and roll, not cabaret!"
The music stops again during "Gloria" when some fans jump on stage in order
to escape the rambunctious crowd. After the song resumes, the crowd
flares up again and the Radio City brass decide to stop the show.
Bono pleads with the crowd to behave and people comply long enough for
"Gloria" to be finished and a quick version of "40" to be played.
All in all, a wild night!
