NOTE: This recording features very good sound quality and is better than most recordings from The Unforgettable Fire era, including many commercially released bootlegs. Audience noise is minimal and non-intrusive. Perhaps the only downsides are that Bono's voice is not quite as audible as some may like it -- the volume of the instruments, particularly Adam's bass guitar, is quite loud -- and that some periodic "tapping" can be heard during some songs.. Nonetheless, after your ears adjust, this recording makes for a very enjoyable listen. For some reason, "Seconds" was divided into two tracks (Disc 1, Tracks 3 and 4). Also, this recording includes tiny periods of dead air between tracks which result in small popping noises, some of which are more noticeable than others.
The intro to "Bad" suffers from a bit of
wavering, but is very interesting nonetheless. Instead of expounding
upon the issues behind the writing of the song (heroin addiction, etc.),
Bono talks about meeting "three very pretty girls last week in Germany".
He says that "we fell very much in love with them, and asked them to come
and see us. But these girls were no ordinary girls and they weren't
allowed to come and see us. They were working girls and they were
working that night...she used to walk the street just to feel alive...I
said, 'How much do you feel like tonight?' She said, 'I feel like
fifty deutschmarks.' I say 'I think you're worth a lot more than
fifty deutshcmarks.' She said, 'I'm sixty deutschmarks.' Well,
I say, 'You're worth more than sixty deutschmarks'. She says 'One
hundred deutschmarks.' And I say that's "Bad"...."
