NOTE: I received this recording from Scott Zumsteg, webmaster of The Joshua Tree Tour Preservation Project web site. Those of you who have traded with Scott know that he only works with top notch recordings. Here are his comments regarding this one:
"A friend of mine did the masters to (this show) on a d5 professional analog recorder with ecm series microphones. (It) isolate out the audience noize as to where there is virtually none and they're great clean tapes. The cds I created are directly from the master tapes to DAT>cd, so essentially they are the masters."
The volume during the intro to "Streets" wavers just a bit, but everything is under control by the time Bono greets the crowd and the first verse begins. Otherwise, there are very few blemishes during this outstanding audience recording. Of particular interest is the inclusion of a translator during Bono's speech before the encore begins. As far as I can remember, this may be the only time U2 has ever used a translator to communicate with a crowd.
In case you're wondering, this recording contains the entire set -- the band breezed through the concert in an astonishing 71:46!
