Quality -
The
handycam sources are really good quality. Most of the time they are very
stable as well. The digicam recordings are a nice addition to this DVD,
with some really great closup shots. The quality of the first dvd is the
highest, because this one is only about 55 minutes long, while the second
disc is about 20 minutes longer. So therefore the bitrate of the second
DVD is lower than the first. Sometimes this is visible when looking at
the Hi8 shots (edge side). There you can also see the quality difference
of digital cameras vs. analog cameras. But overall the picture quality
is good.
- Audio
Quality -
The
recordings that are available from this concert are nice audience recordings,
but never perfect. Sometimes a lot of clapping and screaming, but what
more can you expect from an audience recording! Despite this fact, it still
sounds great. I made a matrix of the different recordings, but the B!gGirl
recording is the most prominent one (front channels). Sousous's recording
fills up the rear channels. Sometimes there are gaps and i used the other
recording to fill up those gaps, as well as some of the original sound
that was captured with the video because none of the audience recordings
cover the complete "complete" recording. I chose not to cut the video instead.
NOTE: The above description is very solid. The only extra insight I feel compelled to add is that the sound on this recording is quite distant. As mentioned above, the audio that Onno had to work with is very limited in terms of quality. Check out all of the 24 June 2005 recordings on my site and you'll see what I'm talking about. He decided to create a matrix of "Northside in the Rain" (sousous) and "Here Comes the Bomb" (B!gGirl).
