NOTE: Shot from the stands on the right side (Adam's side) about even with the stage. The taper was pretty low down in the stands, so the footage is really tight. The quality of the video is excellent -- not surprising since this was converted from the master 8mm video -- and the audio is very nice as well. There is one big negative about this DVD -- the people in front of the taper *often* obstruct his view...sometimes partially, sometimes completely. As a result, the taper is forced to move the camera repeatedly in an attempt to find a clear view. Therefore, this video isn't as steady as many other audience-shot videos. If it weren't for all of the obstructions, this DVD would be one of the best audience-shot discs in circulation.
The video begins with footage of the marquee outside of Madison Square Garden showing the date and announcement of U2's performance. The taper provides some comments during this footage. Note that "Zoo Station" and most of "The Fly" are not included on this video.
The original DVD was authored on a standalone recorder, so the menu was minimal and the chapter divisions occurred every five minutes rather than between songs. I ripped ripped the .vob files from the original DVD, created a new .mpg file, trimmed the .mpg file to eliminate the thin line of snow at the bottom of the picture, and reauthored the DVD with an interactive menu and chapter divisions between songs.
